BLECK! - Cockroach invasion?

Probably one of the most consistantly unpleasent pests to have invading your home is the cockroach. Regardless of species, cockroaches are associated with filth and unkempt homes. Unfortunately, it is not as simple as keeping your home clean to avoid these pests. The truth is, cockroaches are looking for a suitable home just as any other pest. They are looking for someplace cool and dark, moisture for hydration, and something to eat. These things can be found for a cockroach in the most spotless of homes. Once settled, cockroaches breed enormously, and can go from a small nuisance, to a full blown infestation in a very short time frame. Cockroaches avoid people, so in the event you are seeing them, there is a good chance there are far more that you are not seeing. Despite all of the common myths regarding these pests, there is no shame in admitting there is a problem in your home. More importantly, cockroaches can be extremely resilliant, hide deep inside walls, cabinets, fixtures, plumbing, etc and make it rather hard to eliminate. Rather than trying to secretly struggle with this problem, contact a pest control professional. At Hudson Pest Control, we are understanding and compassionate to your pest control problems, we understand it happens to everyone in all walks of life, and can discreetly handle the problem for you with easy, safe, eco friendly pest control products that are effective and will give you peace. http://www.hudsonpestcontrol.com/getridofcockroachesorlando.html

Your home, your way. - Pest Control geared for YOU.

It often becomes a scary subject, the idea of having a stranger come into your home, and spraying chemicals around that you are unfamiliar with. Who is this person? What kind of training to they have? What kind of chemicals are they using? Are they using the correct amount? Are they safe? Will they work? What about my children? My pets?

It is true, all of these questions are important and you have a right to know the answers. The truth is, pest control employees require little training and licensing when working underneath the license of a pest control company. There are many processes required for mixing chemicals, and diluting them, that these employees may not know the correct legal and enviornmentally safe ratios for. It is always best to try to find a pest control provider who can promise an individually licensed pest control representative with training and certification can come to your home.

There are many brands and types of chemicals available for pest control treatment in your home. Fortunately, most are safe according to legal standards as of this time. However, there are some chemicals that are safer for the enviornment than others. These chemicals are eco friendly, green pest control chemicals. Like those supplied by NISUS, a leader in enviornmentally friendly pest control. You should always ask your pest control provider if they offer green and eco friendly products for your home.

But, are these green pest control products as effective as their harsh chemical counterparts? Absolutely! Modern advances in technology make it possible to create effective, long lasting treatments that do not have a harmful long lasting effect on your home or the enviornment. These products have the same effectiveness as the older harsh chemicals.

Whoever you get for pest control, make sure you research the types of chemicals and the license of the providers. Termite Swarming Season 2012 Has Arrived

It is that time of year again, termite season is upon us in Central Florida. During the Spring and often into the beginning of summer, termites become more active in our area and therefore pose a bigger risk to homes and structures. Due to an unusually warm winter, it is likely that this swarming will start earlier, last longer, and be more intense than normal, without the harshness of freezing temperatures to lower the population of these insects. But, whether you have seen these swarming insects or not, there is no need to panic. Despite the ominous images of wood eating insects eating your home into a mound of dust, there are things you can do to prevent and control termite problems in your home or other structure.

The first step to learning to prevent termite issues in your home, comes from being educated. There are a few types of termites that can effect your home and property, each has to be handled a different way.

The first, and most common, termite species in Florida is the Subterranean Termite. These termites entire the home or structure from the soil beneath, and then begin to eat away at the wood, while drawing their moisture from the ground to sustain their existance. There are things you can do to help prevent a termite problem caused by this species of termite, like clearing all debris from around your home, keeping all wooden parts of the home structure away from the soil. If you already have a problem with subterranean termites in your home or structure, these termites can be easy to treat and usually do not require fumigation. The soil around and underneath the home can be treated, forcing the termites to come into contact with the treatment when they return to draw moisture for their colony.

Another species of termite that can affect homes in Florida is the Damp Wood termite. Damp Wood termites also need moisture to sustain their colonies, but unlike their subterranean counterparts, Damp Wood termites do not return to the soil to draw moisture, but rather require moisture damage and damp wood in a structure to sustain life. Keeping up with moisture issues and water damage to homes and structures can often be the best prevention against termite damage from this type of termite in a home or structure. If you already have a problem with dampwood termites, often a localized treatment can be performed and the moisture problems can be corrected and the termites can be removed without the need for fumigation.

The final species of termite present in Florida is the Dry Wood Termite. These termites are those that are most often seen swarming, and enter a dwelling at random while swarming during certain months of the year. These termites require no moisture source to sustain life, and are much more difficult to prevent and remove. The best things that can be done to prevent Dry Wood termite problems are to paint and seal all exposed wood on a home, and keep all cracks and crevices sealed to prevent these termites from swarming and entering the home. If you already have a Dry Wood termite problem, there is often rarely anything that can be done other than fumigation. However, in some cases if the termites are present only in an addition or deck and the remainder of the home is block, it can be possible to spray and treat the infestation.

The most important thing to remember about termites, is time. The faster you catch the problem and contact a pest control professional, the quicker you can take steps to remove the infestation and prevent further damage to your home or structure. At Hudson Pest Control, we believe in trying to solve your termite problems as quickly and easilly as we can while remaining effective. We promise to explain to you all of your treatment options, and be honest about what is needed and what is not. We will leave you with the confidence and peace of mind that you are in control of your home and that the termites are in good hands.
